Crown & Bridges

A crown/cap is a type of restoration that covers the entire tooth structure like a helmet providing strength and natural tooth appearance. It is a common procedure done on heavily filled teeth or teeth that had root canal therapy.

A bridge is a procedure to replace missing tooth due to decay, trauma, gum disease or previously extracted teeth. If missing teeth are not replaced, eventually the neighbouring teeth have a tendency to drift in closing the gap and changing the bite.

Crowns and bridges are made of different substances like gold, stainless steel and porcelain based on factors such as function, strength and aesthetics (cosmetic looks). All ceramic (porcelain) crowns are the material of choice for front teeth where aesthetics is a main consideration.

Generally it takes 2-3 visits to complete a crown and bridge procedure.
